"BURROUGH GREEN WAR MEMORIAL"

To the eternal memory of the men of BURROUGH GREEN who died in the service of their country
16 in the Great War of 1914-1919 and 2 in 1939-1945

St Augustine's Church, Burrough Green has an engraved brass plate mounted on a wooden frame recording the 16 men who fell in the Great War, and a wooden addition under it with gold painted, incised lettering for the two airmen who fell in 1939-1945.

In addition, there is a clock that is mounted on the village primary school. The face is coloured white with black Roman numerals, minute marks are bounded by black rings. The hands are of metal construction and finished with gold leaf. The clock face is inscribed "In memoriam" in black lettering. Below the clock a stone insert bears the dates "1914 - 1919" in relief. The clock mechanism is located in the roof space and mounted on a wooden frame directly behind the face.
In 2009, a grant of £566 was offered through the Small Grants Scheme towards replacement work. This work involved replacement of the original manual winding mechanism with an electric automatic winding system which includes adjustment of the clock on the seasonal changes to and from GMT. The replacement was required due to access issues in accessing the winding mechanism which meant that the clock had not worked for over ten years.

In addition, on the choir stall on the right side is a memorial plaque for Wilfrid Burgess

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old,
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn
At the going down of the sun, and in the morning,
We will remember them.
